SPORT
Sport is a very important element of the curriculum at Glynwood. As part of the agreement involving the new sport funding, we have decided to train up more members of staff to help deliver high quality P.E in school. This should result in them being able to carry out more engaging and effective lessons, as well as run a wider variety of exciting clubs. We have already undertaken an exciting project in year 5 where the class learned how to play Aussie Rules football and created a manual for children in other countries to use. The Global sport project was funded with this additional P.E money.
We continue to take part in a wide range of festivals and competitions and have already competed in Football, basketball, tag rugby, athletics and cheerleading this term. Hopefully we will continue to be successful (see our trophy collection outside of the staff room).
After Christmas we will be taking part in the Hoops for Health project in conjunction with the Newcastles Eagles and also taking part in rowing, netball, football and dance festivals. Staff will be looking to run a selection of clubs across the school including football for Y3 and 4 on a Monday night and dance for y5 and 6 on Thursdays.
