YEAR 6

Mr Otterson and Mr Telford
YEAR 6

Welcome back to school. We hope everyone had a great summer break and are ready for the challenges that lie ahead in Year 6.  It is a slightly different set up in year 6 this year with the return of 2 classes across the year group with Mr Telford and Miss Ali joining Miss Ferguson and Mr Otterson.  Generally the classes will cover the same areas of the curriculum with each staff putting their own creative teaching style and ideas into lessons.

Don’t forget you will need to apply for your child’s secondary school place by the end of October, so look out for information coming home soon.  You can apply online and don’t forget to put down more than one choice just in case you don’t get your preferred option.

This is always a fun packed term with lots of amazing things planned including our annual visit to Robinwood.  There will be lots of sporting opportunities in year 6, so make sure pupils bring in their PE kit on a Monday and take it home at the end of the week as you never know when the chance to do additional practise may arise.  Please help your child with their reading on a regular basis – this is the key to so much of their learning, so we can not stress enough how important it is to hear them read – we bet you all did it when they were little and it is still an enjoyable thing to do. Look out for homework on the interactive maths abacus website – use the same login details as last year and watch out for spellings and other types of additional work that may be sent home.

If you have any further questions or concerns our door is always open.

I am sure we will have an amazing time in our final year together at Glynwood

Mr Otterson
