YEAR 6

Mr Otterson

Welcome back to school.  I hope you all had an amazing Christmas holidays and that you were all well behaved and are ready for the challenges of the Spring term.  It is another very busy term with year 6 starting to gear up for SATs.  There will be lots of fun things on the way like basketball tournaments to participate in and many other sporting festivals and competitions such as the dance festival at the SAGE Gateshead.  It is only a short half term of 5 weeks before the February holidays then quite an early Easter too at the end of March.  That means we have to get cracking straight away for preparing for SATs, so be prepared for a few more tests! – AARRGGHH!  We are lucky to have NUFC coaching in school this term, so Year 6 will be receiving their coaching slot on Wednesdays to go alongside their usual Friday P.E timetabled session – so please try to remember those P.E kits and try to bring a tracksuit too, so we can go outside when the weather permits.  I am sure we will have another fun -filled term at Glynwood and I am looking forward to the rest of this Spring term together.

Mr Otterson

Welcome back to school.  I hope you all had a restful break and are ready for the challenges ahead.  It is always an amazing feeling being part of year 6 and everything that it holds for you over the next 10 months.  There are lots of things to look forward to including: house days like the cross country event, day trips to Eden camp for our World War Two topic and of course our fantastic trip to Robinwood on November 20th.  Besides this, there will of course be lots of challenging work to complete across the curriculum, but I have every confidence that you will do your best and achieve great things this year.  Please try to remember to bring your reading book every day for Accelerated reader and try to read as much as possible at home – this includes out loud to a grown up.  Don’t forget to check your active learning maths page for homework updates and enjoy the puzzles and tasks your teacher has set.  I am sure we will have a great time together in year 6.  Good luck everyone!
