Spring Term 2019

Happy New Year to you all! We have had a great first week back. The children have been settled and worked hard.

This term, we are taking part in a whole-school writing project, based on the book, ‘The Matchbox Diary’ by Paul Fleischman. We look forward to seeing what lovely ideas this inspires in the children’s writing.

In Maths, our focus again will be the times tables, particularly the 7s and 12s. But the children should continue to practise all their tables at home.

Our topic this half-term is Rainforests, which has begun to excite the children already. Look out for ‘Creative Homework’ coming home soon.

In Science, we will be studying ‘States of Matter’, learning about and investigating changes in material.

Swimming continues on Mondays, and this term PE lessons are on Wednesdays, as we have a Tag Rugby coach in. The children should bring suitable clothing for outdoor PE lessons.

Please ensure your child continues to learn Spellings, which are taken home on Thursdays and tested the following Thursday. In addition, whilst the children are making good progress in their reading, they always benefit from reading at home independently and being heard read regularly. Reading books come home every night and should be brought in to school every day.

Later this term, Year 4 will be performing a play. We will welcome help with costumes nearer the time (these should be fairly easy!).

Thank you for your continued support.
