YEAR 2Mr Routledge and Miss Robinson
The final term of Year 2 is here and it certainly is a very busy one! We will be working hard in preparation for our SAT’s assessments, starting the week beginning 13th May. The assessments are completed in small groups in a calm and encouraging environment. The children will have Maths, Reading, Grammar and Spelling assessments over a two-week period.
In class we will move onto a new Science topic, Plants. We will be doing lots of outdoor learning to learn about how plants grow.
For our topic work, we will be learning about some non-European countries and our local area. We will be visiting the Quayside to learn about the bridges, landmarks and famous buildings on the River Tyne.
We’re hoping that the sun will shine throughout the Summer term so that we can do lots of outdoor learning and prepare for sports day later in the term. Mrs and Mr Allom will be treating us to some forest school activities too – we can’t wait!
Thank you for your continued support.
The Year 2 Team
In preparation for tonight's semi final football game against Croatia we all wore red and white. Good luck England.
We had fun this morning watching a rehearsal run through of the younger children's talent show. You're all in for a treat.
A huge thank you for all the fantastic homework projects about countries around the world. Grown ups came in to share the brilliant work and some even did a quiz too. Thank you to all those who came in too.
The water fight was a huge success again. The children always look forward to this event and as usual it was great fun. Another fabulous water fight
We had a brilliant time this morning when the year 5s planned and organised some sports activities for the year 2s. Fantastic organisational skills.
We had a brilliant sports afternoon and the sun shone for us again. Children took part fantastically and all tried their best. Congratulations to those in the blue team who came first with the most points. A huge thank you to the grown ups who took part too. Hope...
What an amazing house afternoon we all had making and flying kites. Thank you to everyone who took part.
We worked in teams and were given a hard boiled egg. The task was to drop it from high up but save it from breaking. So we had to protect the egg, wrap it safely and make a parachute to help it reach the ground safely. We worked brilliantly.
We made paper aeroplanes by following some tricky instructions as part of science week and our day on flight.
As part of all the fun of science week, we did the mentos into coke trick. We all got a surprise at what happened. Go B8637F92-806C-40E7-BF3C-C19296A9743B
One of the activities today during our day on flight was to make flying saucers using 2 paper plates. They flew brilliantly.
We have been having a fantastic time this week during science week. One of our activities this morning was to make giant foam bubbles. Odd socks do come in useful!
