Summer Term

A warm welcome back after the Easter holidays – we hope you all enjoyed a well earned break after a very busy Spring term.

We start the last term of the academic year with a continued focus on English and Maths, in readiness for the end of Key Stage 1 statutory assessment tests (SATs) starting in May. Please keep up with your child’s reading and working with them at home, your continued support is invaluable in their progress. Spellings will continue to be tested weekly, every Friday.

Again, we will be setting a creative homework task this term, and this will tie in with our topic of weather.

In our science work this term will be looking closely at plants; including growing a range of flowering plants, fruit and vegetables, as well as the ‘infamous’ Sunflower Challenge. Our topic this term will be all about ‘Weather’. We will be looking at weather patterns, symbols, making measuring instruments as well as using maps to observe weather patterns from around the world.

After the half term break, children will be taking advantage of the school grounds and hopefully, (weather dependent) enjoying lessons in the outdoor environment. With Summer holidays approaching we will be focusing on the Seaside environment as well – we may even get a little trip to the seaside in too!

We look forward to working with your amazing children and seeing all their hard work blossoming in their final term in year 2 at Glynwood.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to any of the KS1 team.

Thank you in advance.

The KS1 team.

The police visit Key Stage One

Our Eco Council are helping to run a campaign about reducing waste. This time the focus is plastic bottles. Please could you collect and send in as many washed out plastic bottles as you can to school. Any size at all is fine. Thank you for your continued...
