YEAR 2

Mrs Commons, Mrs Allom and Mr Routledge

Autumn Term 2017

Welcome back to school and Year 2. We hope you all had a fantastic holiday.

We are starting this term with the topic 100 Years. We will be looking at how people lived 100 years ago and comparing it to how we live now. We will also be looking at George Stephenson and the impact he had on the North East.

Science work will be based around Animals including Humans. This will include Life Cycles and how they stay healthy.

In Maths lessons we will be looking at place value and problem solving. We will be doing a lot of work around addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will be developing our mental strategies in the four areas. In addition to our calculations we will be looking at properties of shapes, position and direction and measurement.

In English we will be continuing with Read Write Inc. Our English lessons will be based around story writing;developing skills in grammar, joined handwriting, spelling patterns and reading comprehension.

After half term we will be starting to prepare for our Christmas performance (Yes, it’s that time of year again!)

We look forward to working with your children.

Any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to come and see us.
