YEAR 1

Autumn Term 2018

A big warm welcome to Year 1. We hope you all had a wonderful summer holidays.

Our Autumn term begins with the topic ‘Houses and Homes’. We will be looking at different types of houses and how they have changed over the years. We will be having a trip to Beamish to look at life in an old house, so watch out for further details.

Our Science work will be materials and we’ll be looking at what things are made of and their properties.

Maths will be a combination of number work, adding and taking away, shape and measuring.

There will be lots of phonics work going on, in our lesson Read, Write Inc, as well as lots of games in class. We will also have English lessons and will begin with work on fairy tales. If you have any, we would love to read them in class.

After half term we will begin our work on Celebrations and Festivals, where we will start work on our Christmas performance.

We look forward to working with your children and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and speak to us.
