The first part of the football season is now complete and won’t return until the 5 - a – side competition after Christmas.  The year 5 and 6 team have been steadily improving and won their first match on Thursday beating St.Peters school 5 – 0 and narrowly losing 3 – 1 to Carr Hill.  Cameron Higham, Joeseph Fisher, Kieran Fleming and Kiera Skelton were amongst the scorers.  Well done also to the defence and Kieran Burns for keeping a clean sheet […]

We have been talking about autumn and harvest recently in Reception. We have made the most of the autumn sunshine by exploring the outdoors. We have also been counting with conkers, writing in autumn colours, painting leaves, using the leaves we collected to do some rubbings, ordering numbered leaves and making soup. We have been learning to do some oral storytelling and ‘The Little Red Hen’ is a perfect story to do this with as it contains lots of repetition. The children in Reception really got into the swashbuckling spirit recently when we decided we would like to do lots of jobs about pirates. We made treasure maps, listened to lots of pirate stories (The Night Pirates was a favourite, along with Pirates Love Underpants !), wrote letters, made hats, patches and telescopes, dug for treasure in the sand and went on a real treasure hunt around our school grounds. We also loved coming to school in our fabulous pirate costumes.

We had a lovely afternoon singing songs and reciting poems for our grown ups. All followed by coffee and delicious cakes. Mmmm!! A big thank you to all those grown ups who came along to support us and for all the money we will have raised for McMillan Cancer. We will let you know how much was raised when it is all counted  up.
